Forms and further information are available in the sidebar at right.

The Japan Festival will be held Saturday, April 29 from 9:30 to 5:00 at the Santa Fe Community Convention Center near the Santa Fe Plaza. It's a family day featuring stage performances and activities in the court yard reminiscent of the festivals of Japan. Kamishibai, the art of story telling using original art prints, will be presented by our visitors from Japan. Jinko Kyudojo demonstrates the art of the bow and Chado New Mexico shares the traditional art of tea to calm the mind and soothe the spirit.

Classic Japanese dance will be performed by Chizuko Matsumoto while the youthful dance group AOL6 adds hip-hop and excitment to the day. We will see the dynamic karate demonstration by AKKA, creative taiko performances, the giant robot collectors T-shirt created by Joel Nakamura and be surprised by cosplay characters in original costumes as they parade into the courtyard where you may participate in traditional games…even go.

Visit many specialty vendors and taste festival street food and bento for sale. Admission is $5 for adults, and free for children under 12. One dollar of each admission will be contributed to JIN's scholarship fund which helps students attend Japanese related educational events. The festival is presented by the nonprofit Santa Fe JIN (Japan Intercultural Network).

We look forward to seeing you there! We need volunteers to help prepare for and run the Festival. If you are interested in helping out, please fill out the online application linked in the sidebar at right.
