Aki Matsuri

Sunday, September 17, 2017 10:00 AM to 05:00 PM
National Hispanic Cultural Center, Albuquerque

NMJACL’s annual Aki Matsuri or Fall Festival is celebrating Takumi: The Way of Japanese Craftsmanship to showcase various crafts with origins to Japan.

The festival invites the multicultural, diverse communities of New Mexico to experience the Japanese culture through traditional Japanese and Okinawa dances, audience participation in bon odori, origami, caricature sittings, and calligraphy requests. Taiko drumming is a must for any Japanese festival, along with shamisen performance, martial arts demonstrations, arts and crafts and ginza table sales. NMJACL is introducing the first Japanese hotdogs to Albuquerque during this Aki Matsuri, and will have sake and beer sampling along with other food items.
